Well This week was definitely a surprising one. Had a lot of twists and turns. Some for the good and some for the worst. We have been doing a lot on trying to find the Male members of the church that actually turned out to be a success in finding them but not so much in how many we were able to contact. Of the 54 names that we had that are male here, we only got in contact with 7. Luckily they were all willing to meet with us and in fact we had one back at church. we have also stepped up our game in finding men who have the capacity to work. Those who either have a job or have the means of getting one. Was introduced to a neighbor of a member who is from Grange Hill, Jamaica. His name is Orlan. He has some very good potential. He had some great questions about repentance and really the gospel itself on a whole. We were able to teach him the restoration this past week and had a great experience. He accepted a baptismal invitation and is willing to work
to know. I think it was one of the best how to begin teaching/restoration lessons i have had on my mission.
Working with the members has really started to take off here in the Provo branch. Really due to your awesome inspired lesson that you gave on August 4th. Thanks for that :)
Now the not so good part. As we tried to contact Felix this past week we found that his phone wasn't working or it was turned off. We went to his house to find him not there and everyone there telling us that he was gone and they didn't know when he would be back. It felt so
unusual for him to do some thing like that. Then we get a call Friday morning from a police station asking if we could "sit in" for and interview that Felix had. Thinking that is was for some job or him
finally getting his paper work filled out we stroll in there. To our astonishment he had been apprehended by the Immigration of Turks & Caicos. It broke our hearts. WE couldn't believe it. Soon after getting a hold of some of the branch members we found out that he had been in there since that Wednesday. It killed us to know that he was in there that long. Today he has his court day, seeing as we could do nothing ewe have kept him in our prayers and hoped for the best but if
he does go back to Haiti, that he may be a strong influence there.
Elder Christensen and i have seemed to come closer and closer each week as time moves forward. It has really been a great stepping stone in our work. We understand each other so well and we can definitely say that it is a tribute to our success thus far. We both know that
Turks is about to explode with miracles as we approach these coming weeks. He and I have been working up a storm. Can't wait to see how this week fold out.
In my Studies this week, i wanted to enlighten myself more on the Atonement of Christ. Truly understanding the meaning of his sacrifice and helping others understand the seriousness of its earnest call for repentance. Oddly I was also asked a question about the ordinances in the temple. Specifically baptism's for the dead. I then came to
realize how closely related the two are. That as once Jesus Christ helped us though we may have not been living or dead, we have the opportunity to help others. That is why there is such a huge
encouragement to enter the temples, worthily, so that we become as christ was for us. As Christ explains in Matthew " Be ye therefor perfect even as your Father which is in Heaven is perfect." -Matt. 5:48- Our magnifying of our callings and responsibilities helps us to become so.
I know that through our Savior Jesus Christ all things are possible, even if we may not understand them completely at first. That is why faith is required and not just logical explanations.
